Hall of Fame History
The Wickliffe
Community Hall of Fame was founded 1n 1993 by former Wickliffe Mayors Tom Ruffner
and Bob Aufildish Their mission was to honor deserving Wickliffe residents. Businesses,
and organizations
for outstanding accomplishments not only within Wickliffe, but throughout the
state of Ohio and the country.
The initial Class of Inductees in 1993 boasted 19 Inductees, including some of
the founding fathers of Wickliffe.
Since that first Induction Ceremony the Hall of Fame has gone on the enshrine
286 deserving individuals and 21
organizations, making the total number of Inductees 307. Due to the COVID
pandemic in 2020, 2021 and 2022
the Hall of Fame ceased operations for safety reasons.
From 1993 until 2013, the Induction Ceremony was held on a Saturday evening,
usually the last week of October
or the first week of November. In September of 2014, the Induction Ceremony was
moved to the last Sunday
afternoon in September and the dinner was replaced by a luncheon. This move has
been a great success for
the Hall of Fame. With each new Class, our Books of Records are updated with
the Inductees biographies, a
portrait photo, and 4 more images that are chosen by the individual. These
Books are located at the Wickliffe Public
Library located on Lincoln Rd. Posters of all Inductees are located at the
Wickliffe Community Center located on
Worden Rd. and at Petti’s Pizza on Euclid Ave.
